Bring out your femininity with a classy side bun – the perfect match for the occasional evening out. Gather all hair to one side of your head, below the ear and twist it to create a soft, flower-resembling bun. The secret to having this Japanese-inspired hairstyle looking full-bodied and richly moisturised is to use loose styling wax. This hairstyle is suitable for a wide variety of hair lengths from medium to long.
Ornamental U-shaped combs can be used as hair pins. Equally appropriate is the use of Japanese hair pins, or for more casual look, accessorise with a tortoiseshell U-shaped comb. For an elegant touch, go with two ornamental combs with beautifully crafted flower motifs on them.

Create the look you want with different bun hairstyles. Set your bun at ear level for a sensual look as it offers a glimpse of the neck. For a cuter look, set the bun slightly higher, or, as you wish, have it set lower for added elegance.

Blend # Swing Loose into loosely permed hair for moisture. (For straight hair, curl with heated curlers or a hair straightener. Do not use wax.)

Gather hair to one side of your head, just below the ear and twist it inwards. Use a hair pin to secure hair in place (see photo), and add hairpins on the left as well, concealing them behind the ear.

After hair is properly secured with hairpins, gently bring hair to the front while twisting it at the ends.

Roll hair upwards in a loop at ear level and secure the bun with U-shaped hairpins.

Finish the style by lightly using fingers to tease hair that spill out from the bun. Twist hair ends to create movement and a styled look. Stick a U-shaped comb into the bun for a decorative touch.
